The Audit Analytics Canada Audit Fees database contains fee disclosures from Canadian Issuers' electronic filings since 2006, helping you understand audit fee trends, benchmark against peers, and analyze significant changes.
1. Understanding the database
Canadian public companies must disclose external auditor compensation under Multilateral Instrument 52-110 on Audit Committees. Item 9 describes the following fee categories:
- Audit fees
- Audit-related fees
- Tax fees
- All other fees
The database is available online, through WRDS, and through data feeds (Feed49 – SEDAR Audit Fee, Feed50 – SEDAR Audit Original Fee) with the relevant subscription.

2. Using the database
The Canada Audit Fees database supports the following common uses:
- Understand audit fee trends and year-over-year changes
- View fees in Canadian and US dollars for ease of comparison
- Benchmark your audit fees against industry peers by revenue, market cap, and location
- Analyze significant changes in audit fees
3. Understanding collection methodology
Currencies are converted from the reporting currency using the exchange rate as of the corresponding event date (Market Cap Rate, Revenue Date, Assets Date, and/or fiscal year end, as applicable).
In August 2024, the following fields were modified due to a change in source data:
- Industry Key and Industry Description were deprecated
- Business Phone, Business Fax, and Contact Fax were replaced by two new fields: Phone and Fax
Data is primarily extracted from the following form types: Management information circular - English, management information circular (amended) - English, audited annual financial statements - English, audited annual financial statements - French, audited annual financial statements (amended) - English, annual report on Form 20-F - English, annual report on Form 10-K – English, annual information form - English, revised annual information form - English, annual information form (revised) - English, annual report - English, annual report (amended) - English, MD&A - English, MD&A supplement - English, MD&A (amended) - English.
