The Audit Analytics Canada Restatements dataset covers all SEDAR issuers who have disclosed a restatement of prior period financial statements due to calculation, application, or intentional errors.
1. Understanding the dataset
The Canada Restatements dataset helps you assess financial reporting quality and benchmark restatement severity across industries. You can identify companies that issue multiple restated financial statements.
The database is available online, through WRDS, and through data feeds [Feed60] with the relevant subscription.

2. Understanding the collection methodology
Currencies are converted from the reporting currency using the exchange rate as of the corresponding event date (Market Cap Rate, Revenue Date, Assets Date, or fiscal year end, as applicable).
Note: In August 2024, several fields were modified due to a change in source data. Industry Key and Industry Description were deprecated. Business Phone, Business Fax, and Contact Fax were replaced by two new fields: Phone and Fax.
The disclosure of the prior period restatement is extracted, and the corresponding issues are tagged along with type of restatement (calculation, application, intentional, or other), International Accounting Citation(s), the restated periods, and the impact (positive or negative).
Data is sourced from the following form types:
