1. General overview
- The Audit Analytics Bankruptcies database tracks bankruptcy declarations under Chapters 7, 11, and 15 by court and date for SEC filings since 2000.
- Per SEC requirements this includes all '33 and '34 Act filers.
2. Common uses

- Determining which SEC registrants have declared bankruptcy in the last calendar year
- Filter bankruptcy declarations by court, industry, and location
- Access online, download into CSV, or purchase data feeds for building internal applications
The Bankruptcies database is available online, through WRDS, and as a data feed [Feed21] with the relevant subscription.

3. Collection methodology
- This data is sourced from Chapters 7, 11, and 15 bankruptcies mentioned in Item 1.03 in a public company’s 8-K disclosures.
- If a public company’s subsidiary is named in the bankruptcy filing (and the parent/filer is not), the name/s of the subsidiary or subsidiaries is also tracked
- Also monitoring the US Bankruptcy dockets located on PACER (US Court Electronic Records)
- “End Dates” are sourced from PACER
